Künstler, a historic German winery that has captivated critics and enthusiasts alike with its exceptional wines, has established itself as an undisputed leader in Riesling production in Germany's Rheingau region. With a family tradition dating back to 1648, Künstler has been recognised as one of the most important wineries in the area, and stands out for its wines that encapsulate the very essence of the Rheingau and the Riesling grape.

Rheingau is among the most famous white wine regions in the world. Eighty percent of the 3,000 hectares under cultivation are Riesling, and only 12% of the Rheingau vineyard space is planted with the more noble red grape variety, a prima donna known as Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). At Künstler both varieties are worked with nobility and dedication.

Künstler makes its wines using state-of-the-art technology combined with traditional methods, and seeks to achieve the ideal balance between residual sweetness, alcohol and acidity, key components for wines with enormous ageing potential. Moreover, in the vineyard, each plot is treated differently, adapted to its own needs, with the aim of harvesting and vinifying only healthy and fully ripe grapes, which is also reflected in its great attention to optimal air circulation between the bunches of grapes. Good soil management, the total elimination of herbicides, and responsible and gentle viticultural practices are essential parts of protecting the vineyards and encouraging the development of their vines.

For this, Künstler has been widely recognised in various awards and distinctions. In 2022, the Künstler Riesling Rheingau Hölle GG 2021 was ranked as the second best wine in the world in James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of the World, with an impressive score of 99 points. Moreover, the winery was also awarded the prestigious title of Riesling Champion in the same year, highlighting its excellence in German wine culture.

It has recently been awarded by Wein.Plus, Europe's largest platform for wine enthusiasts, as ‘Best Collection Rheingau’ in the German Wine Guide, consolidating its position as one of the most outstanding wineries in the region.

In addition, it has been rated with the highest score by Gault Millau, a prestigious wine guide that evaluates the quality of wine products in Germany and beyond, underlining its exceptional level of excellence in wine production.

The winery has also been distinguished with 5 grapes by Falstaff, another influential guide that offers an in-depth and expert view of the world's wines. It has also received a 4 ½ FFFF rating from FEINSCHMECKER, a prestigious German magazine dedicated to the world of gastronomy and wine, highlighting its commitment to excellence and innovation in wine production.

Together, these distinctions reflect the quality of Künstler wines and their outstanding position on the European and world wine scene.

‘Our commitment is clear: to make exceptional wines that reflect the true essence of our terroir and the Riesling grape,’ said Gunter Künstler, owner of the winery. ‘We are honoured to be recognised internationally for our dedication to quality and excellence.’

With a rich history dating back centuries and an innovative approach to the future, Künstler continues to raise the standard for German Riesling, leaving an indelible mark on the world of wine. Furthermore, thanks to the strategic collaboration with Primeras Marcas, Künstler's renowned distributor in Spain, wine lovers in this country have the opportunity to enjoy the quality and prestige of its wines in their own land, further consolidating the winery's reputation as one of the most outstanding in the world.
