Juvé & Camps is sponsoring the translation of the eight volumes of Sapiens del Vino into English, thus facilitating the opening of this encyclopaedia, unique in the world, at a global level and supporting the dissemination of wine culture.

Juvé & Camps hosted the premiere presentation for the Asian market of the English editions of volumes III and IV of Sapiens del Vino. Over the course of a whole week, Meritxell Juvé, 4th generation and CEO, together with the founder of elBullifoundation, Ferran Adrià and its head of beverages, Ferran Centelles, have carried out a full programme with various activities, tastings and training sessions and the presence of the country's most prominent sommeliers, chefs and journalists.

With this collaboration, the winery not only makes available to the market a collection of wine knowledge that has been eight years of research and investigation, under the Sapiens Methodology of elBullifoundation, but once again reinforces its unconditional support to the study and dissemination of knowledge of the world and culture of wine.

Throughout all the events held during the different days, the attendees have not only been able to understand and understand the reason for this encyclopaedia, but also to taste an exquisite selection of the best wines made by the House, including the oldest vintages of the iconic and renowned Reserva de la Familia GR.
‘We remain true to our centuries-old tradition and our commitment to excellence, innovation and integrity in the creation and production of sparkling wines, a passion we share with elBullifoundation. Since the Bullipedia project began to take shape, we have supported the work of Ferran Adrià and Ferran Centelles to develop the most comprehensive compendium of wine knowledge published to date in the world,’ says Meritxell Juvé, fourth generation of the century-old winery, who adds that “Juvé & Camps is actively involved in providing maximum global dissemination of this multidisciplinary encyclopaedia and its holistic approach to the world of wine and gastronomy”.

Ferran Adrià, founder of elBullifoundation, comments that ‘together with Juvé & Camps, a respected and highly valued brand worldwide, we share values such as innovation and the pursuit of excellence’. Adrià adds that ‘I am proud to collaborate with them in the translation of Sapiens del Vino into English, a key effort to disseminate this extensive wine knowledge to all corners of the planet’.

The publicist, sommelier and director of beverages at elBullifoundation, Ferran Centelles, who has promoted and coordinated the development of Wine Sapiens, considers that ‘Juvé & Camps is the benchmark brand of Spanish sparkling wines, but our collaboration goes beyond the translation into English to become a source of knowledge, innovation and vision for the future. We have learned from them, and their ideas have also helped us to build this encyclopaedia’.
The support to launch this English edition stems from the commitment of the century-old house of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia to contribute to the advancement of the fields of professional gastronomy and sommelier, with the aim that the volumes that make up this encyclopaedia, which has taken more than eight years of intense study, will be a valuable positive influence for enthusiastic sommeliers and gastronomes all over the world.

The next step will be the publication and subsequent translation of volumes V to VIII in the future, putting an end to this immense project which includes perspectives that include science, art and gastronomy, and which has involved world wine experts, such as the MW Pedro Ballesteros and the researcher and teacher Antonio Tomás Palacios (Excell Ibérica laboratories, specialising in R&D in the wine sector), Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and other experts of international stature.

Volumes III and IV of Sapiens del Vino

Volume III - From the market to the wine list is the title of this book which focuses on the journey of wine from the cellar to the restaurant menu. It covers everything from export and logistics to pricing, what factors determine the wines offered in restaurants, the role of the sommelier and the creation of a wine list. It also looks in depth at one of the key factors for sommeliers when they have to buy a particular wine: the quality of the product.

Volume IV, entitled Sommelier: Wine in the Haute Cuisine Restaurant, deals specifically with the role of the sommelier in the restaurant, a subject that has made it one of the most eagerly awaited instalments in the collection. As there is little written on the subject, the book takes a modern and flexible approach to re-evaluating the sommelier's profession, connecting it to art, science and business.
This volume explores the various roles of the sommelier, from business and sales to innovation or psychology and wine service techniques and pairings. It also contains opinions and insights from some of the biggest names in sommeliering, adding much-needed depth to the content.
